Refund of Postage for the International mail recalled by customer because of suspension of services due to Covid-19 pandemic

Subject: refund of Postage for the international postal mail articles recalled by customer because of non availability /suspension of services due to COVID19 pandemic.

Complaints regarding refund of Postage of international postal mail articles which were recalled by customers because of non availability/suspension of services due to force majeure situation have been reviewed in the Directorate.

2. After reviewing the rules and UPU provisions, it has been decided that full postage should be refunded to the sender wherein sender recalls its article because of non availability/suspension of international mail service due to force majeure situation, provided that no other liability for such cases be accepted by the Department of Posts.
