Sub: – Regarding non clearance of cheque presented during March-2020 due to COVID­19/Lockdown.

Sir/Madam,

Various references were received in FS Division from field units/Circles that some cheques presented in the Post Offices during March-2020 for account opening/subsequent deposits in National Savings Schemes were not cleared before 31.03.2020 and were cleared in April 2020 due to lock-down in view of COVID-19. Interest rates on National Savings Schemes were reduced with effect from 01.04.2020 resulting in financial loss to customers due to delayed clearance.

The issue was taken up with the nodal ministry (MoF/DEA) for further directions in such cases. Now nodal ministry (MoF/DEA) desired complete list of such cases in prescribed format given below for further examination.

I am directed to request you kindly provide such cases of your circle in above proforma (in excel) by 26.06.2020 positively through email at adsb2.dte@indiapost.gov.in. If no report is received by 26.06.2020 from your Circle, it would be presumed that the Circle has no such cases pending for relaxation and the same would be forwarded MoF/DEA accordingly.

This issues with the approval of the competent authority.
